Trial Innovation Network Webinar: Paying Participants in Research: Time to Move Forward…
Paying Participants in Research: Time to Move Forward…
Presenter: Neal Dickert, MD, PhD
Dr. Dickert will discuss practical and ethical considerations related to paying research participants for participation. In particular, he will discuss available data that suggest many traditional concerns about payment are not grounded in evidence, address the potential for payment to function differently in different research contexts, and consider the potential role of payment in addressing rather than exacerbating concerns about distributive justice.

Trial Innovation Network Webinar: Equipping researchers to overcome recruitment challenges: An institution’s programmatic response to the voice of its research community
Equipping researchers to overcome recruitment challenges: An institution’s programmatic response to the voice of its research community
Meredith Zauflik, MPA & Kitt Swartz, MPH
This webinar will discuss how the recruitment program of Oregon Clinical and Translational Research Institute (OCTRI), the CTSA at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), focused its programmatic development in response to the researcher’s voice. How they engaged the research community through surveys, interviews, and ongoing interaction with the research team community to identify the experiences, challenges, needs and culture of recruitment at the institution. The services that were developed and offered, based on results and findings, included consultations, guidance materials, and educational seminars. Additionally, OCTRI Recruitment will discuss the outcomes of these initiatives, along with the lessons learned of trying to measure the impact a program can have on recruitment.

May Open Forum on Biostatistics
The Open Forum on Biostatistics is a service provided by the Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD) function of Frontiers, our institutions Clinical and Translational Science Institute. The purpose of this forum is to provide investigators with an opportunity to ask questions related to BERD topic areas. These may relate to research and training, and the forum provides a new avenue to connect with colleagues in support of the research and education missions of the BERD function of Frontiers. This meeting is open to staff and faculty from all Frontiers Partner Institutions.
You can email BERD navigator Megan Tremblay mtremblay@kumc.edu if you have any questions prior to the forum.
The forum will be hosted by two biostatisticians of the BERD function of Frontiers.
