Participant and Clinical Interactions

With the support of a dedicated Frontiers Navigator, investigators can develop, initiate, and complete studies using Frontiers-affiliated Clinical and Translational Science Units (CTSUs). These state-of-the-art facilities provide space for researchers to see patients who are enrolled in clinical trials. The Navigator assists investigators with preparing for scientific review, seeking approvals (e.g. IRB review), budget development and fostering needed collaborations. The Navigator guides PIs and study teams through study start-up by assessing feasibility, identifying necessary resources and staff, and linking with other resources such as regulatory experts. The highly trained staff of the CTSUs ensure that participants have a positive experience and that protocols are followed, thereby contributing to better outcomes and successful clinical trials.

Integrating Special Populations

Engaging unique groups in research such as patients with rare diseases, individuals from historically underrepresented groups in research and individuals from under-resourced communities are the focus of this core. The core will promote the inclusion of participants across the lifespan and at care transitions. A special population workgroup is available to help advise investigators and link research teams to these groups or individuals.
